Receptoren (hormoon)

Nuclear receptors (NRs) are key players in endocrinology as ligand-activated transcription factors that control gene expression for nearly every bodily function, including metabolism, reproduction, development and immunity. NRs are major targets for drugs treating cancer, diabetes and inflammatory diseases, with their dysregulation linked to numerous pathologies. Founded in 2008 by Dutch and Belgian NR researchers, the goal of the Nuclear Receptor Research Network (NRRN) is to promote scientific research into the mechanism of action and function of NRs, the translation of these scientific findings into clinical practice and drug development, and the interaction between scientific researchers in this field in the Netherlands and Belgium and beyond.
