Op deze bijeenkomst zal zowel de basale – preklinische als klinische endocrinologie aan bod komen. De meeting biedt de optimale gelegenheid om voor een breed en in endocrinologie geïnteresseerd publiek te tonen wat de Nederlandse endocrinologie bezielt en haar levend houdt. Het programma zal bestaan uit plenaire en parallelle sessies, waarin nieuwe ontwikkelingen binnen de Endocrinologie de revue zullen passeren, maar waarbij ook vooral jonge onderzoekers hun werk zullen presenteren in een ambiance die uitwisseling van gedachten met senior-onderzoekers optimaal mogelijk maakt. Tijdens deze bijeenkomst zullen ook de “Laqueur Lecture” en de “Novo Nordisk Update Lecture” gegeven worden. Verder zal de “Novo Nordisk Award” worden uitgereikt, alsmede de prijzen voor de beste artikelen in 2011 op het gebied van de basale en de klinische endocrinologie. De spreektaal zal zowel bij de basale- als de gecombineerde sessies Engels zijn. Bij de klinische sessies gaat de voorkeur ook uit naar Engels, maar Nederlands mag ook. Het congres wordt gehouden in het NH Conference Centre Leeuwenhorst, Langelaan 3, 2211 XT Noordwijkerhout. De cursus is dan ook gericht op het herkennen, diagnostiseren en behandelen van deze groep patienten en bedoeld voor internisten/fellows met belangstelling voor dit onderwerp. Set against a background of a 300-year tradition in academic research at the historic Charité Hospital which has now evolved into the Charité University Medicine Berlin, the EASD Annual Meeting promises to offer exciting insights into the most recent research findings in all aspects of diabetology. Berlin mirrors the most important recent political developments in the western world which have transformed it into a truly international city with extraordinary architecture, uniting historical buildings with contemporary design. Berlin’s vivid, young and experimental spirit has attracted an active art scene which can be witnessed in numerous exhibitions. These contrast beautifully with the great art and cultural treasures which are exhibited on the famous Museumsinsel (Museum island), as well as in almost one hundred museums and cultural sites all over Berlin.
